Sara Lee Burgess
Sara Lee Burgess, 78, of Forest Lane Drive, died Friday, March 2, 2007, in Mercy Hospital, Charlotte.
A native of Greenville, she was the widow of Douglas L. Burgess and daughter of the late Joseph W. Danieley and the late Ollie Dix Danieley. She was an executive secretary for Ina Insurance Company, now known as Cigna. She worked during her career in Washington, D.C., and relocated to Gaffney to retire. She loved to read and was Frank Sinatra's No. 1 fan.
Mrs. Burgess grew up in Greenville, Kingsport, Tenn., Alexandria, Va., and Lynchburg, Va., and resided in Annandale, Va. She loved to shop and was known for her impeccable taste in everything.
Surviving are her sister, Bobbie Danieley Klitsch of Charlotte; two brothers-in-law, Robert "Bob" Calhoun and Harold Burgess, both of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Ann Burgess of Gaffney; and 14 nieces and nephews who reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Florida.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. George Fizer.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Heart Association.
