Accident victim remains critical

By TARA JENNINGS Ledger Staff Writer tara@gaffneyledger.com

A Gaffney man remained in critical condition Thursday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte more than a week after he wrecked his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Ronald W. Hudson, 62, of 2646 Chesnee Hwy. was traveling west on Hwy. 9 in Chester County about nine miles east of the City of Chester, when he wrecked at 3 p.m. March 7, said Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Hudson's motorcycle struck a construction sign in the road that indicated motorists should merge to the other lane due to road work ahead. He lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle, McDougald said.

Hudson was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

Troopers estimate he was traveling the posted 55 mph speed limit at the time of the accident
