Spartanburg Community College personnel this week moved into the SCC Foundation Training Center on its Cherokee County branch campus. Continuing education classes will start April 11. Jim Inman has already started a new job in academics just weeks after retiring as Cherokee County Development Board Director.

Spartanburg Community College (SCC) has hired Inman as a full-time continuing education coordinator to work with businesses and industries on training opportunities at its Cherokee County branch campus.

Inman began his duties March 1. He has spent the past couple of weeks meeting with local employers to discuss how SCC can best meet their needs through employee training classes.

"I had planned on teaching a couple of courses at Spartanburg Community College part-time," Inman said. "When I met with the college, I learned they were looking for someone to coordinate their continuing education courses so I told them I was interested in that instead."

SCC has started registration for continuing education classes on the Cherokee County campus. The course offerings include industrial, health, professional development, computer technology and even personal development such as a defensive driving course.

The college will work with local businesses and industries on an ongoing basis to set up specialized training.

Classes will be offered in the SCC Foundation Training Center. The college began moving into the new building this week.

Residents can register for continuing education classes online at www.sccsc.edu/conted or by calling toll free at 1- 877-592-4402.
