Gaffney High School Principal Dr. Quincie Moore was honored Thursday by Spartanburg Community College for her community contributions.

Moore was among eight recipients of the college's "Women of Achievement" awards. She has served as Gaffney High Principal since 2001.

Under Moore's leadership, Gaffney High was named "Palmetto's Finest" by South Carolina Association of School Administrators. The award honors the state's best high school each year for excellence in academics and athletics.

SCC honored Moore and the other award recipients at a Women's History Month celebration. A luncheon was held following the program for the honorees at the Piedmont Club in Spartanburg.

"Celebrating Women's History Month gives us the opportunity to honor and recognize the outstanding women making significant contributions in our very own community." said Leila McKinney, coordinator of the AIM (Aspiration, Inspiration, and Motivation) Center at SCC. The theme of this year's celebration was "Generations of Women Moving History Forward" said McKinney.

Dori Sanders, one of South Carolina's most beloved female authors was the guest speaker for the Women's History Month celebration. It was presented in cooperation with the Spartanburg Community College Foundation.
