Red Cross hosting 'Kid's Day'tomorrow

The Cherokee County chapter of the American Red Cross is hosting a "Kid's Day" on Saturday in honor of Red Cross Month.

Youngsters can participate in the Masters of Disaster free training on Saturday. Children in kindergarten through second grade will be able to take the class between 10 and 11 a.m. Children in third through fifth grades can take the class between 1 and 2 p.m.

Between classes, a free lunch will be provided along with T-shirt decorating.

Seating is limited.

Parents can register their children for Kid's Day by contacting Sarah Allison at the Gaffney office, 301 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, at 489- 6066.

Numerous activities are planned for March, which was first recognized as Red Cross Month in 1943 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The theme in 2007 for Red Cross Month is preparedness.

Babysitter training is being offered for children ages 11 to 15 on March 19, 20, and 22 from 4 until 6 p.m.

First-aid classes are scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on March 19 and 6 until 9 p.m. March 26. The class costs $21.

Adult CPR classes will be held March 31 at both the Red Cross office in Gaffney and the Blacksburg Community Building, 103 S. Shelby St., Blacksburg. The three-hour class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $10.

Infant/child CPR classes are scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m. on March 22 and 9 a.m. to noon March 27 at the Red Cross office. The cost is $26.
