Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late David Hoyle Hollifield and Estelle Ruth Lavender Hollifield. She was the widow of Marvin Lee Ramsey. Mrs. Ramsey was retired from CNA and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gaffney.
