Worked in textile industry

BLACKSBURG - Madison (Pop) Monroe Wilson, 78, of 400 Battleground Drive, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Kings Mountain Hospital.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Janie Wilson and son of the late John Henry Ugesie Wilson and the late Martha Wilson. He was a slicer operator in textiles and was of the Baptist faith.

Also surviving are four sons, Kenneth (Shorty) Wilson of the home, Marion Wilson of Kings Mountain, John Wilson and Charles (Buck) Wilson, both of Blacksburg; a daughter, Treva Love of Gastonia; a sister, Lillian Elkin of Kings Mountain; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Vernon Craig.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Gordon Mortuary and at other times they will be at the home.
