Indians fall to T.L. Hanna

      New opponent. Same result. The Gaffney High baseball team played non-region foe T.L. Hanna on Wednesday, but couldn't snap its long losing streak. The Yellow Jackets scored a couple of runs in the first and blew the game open with five more in the second to post a 12-3 victory at Commissioners Field.

Hoopsters draw interest

      Some current and former Gaffney Indian basketball players are drawing the interest of college recruiters. Rodney Love, who was named to the allregion team and played in the Spartanburg Tipoff Club all-star game last weekend, is being recruited by Spartanburg Methodist and USC Salkahatchie, according to Gaffney High coach Mark Huff.

Highly-rated Chapman pounds Wildcats, 11-1

      At the beginning of the season, Chapman was picked to be a top contender for the region crown. They still are. T.J. Waldrop allowed just four hits and Chris Collins scored three runs to help the visiting Panthers top the Blacksburg Wildcats, 11-1, in a game shortened to five innings because of the 10- run rule.

Lady Indians nip Boiling Springs
STAFF REPORTS
      In high school soccer action, Kristi Caldwell scored the game-winning goal to lift Gaffney to a 2-1 win over the visiting Boiling Springs Bulldogs on Wednesday. Allison Howard put the Lady Indians up 1- 0 in the first half before Boiling Springs tied the game early in the second half.

Saints improve to 4-1 with win over Catawba
      By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com The Limestone men's lacrosse team spread the scoring around in a 14-8 win over visiting Catawba on Wednesday. The Saints jumped to an early threefold lead after the first period. Limestone extended its advantage to 8-2 at halftime.

      YMCA hosts all-star Saturday The YMCA finished its basketball season March 3 with All-Star Saturday. The event featured free throw and 3-point shooting contests. Participation awards were given to all of the players. In the Biddyball Division, Torien Oglesby won the free throw compeition.
