A 30-year-old Moore man died after being ejected from his 1996 Nissan 300 on North Green River Road on Saturday.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said Kyle Thomas McCulloh died in the emergency room at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from massive trauma to the neck. He was transported to Spartanburg Regional by Regional One.

McCulloh, the only person in the vehicle, was traveling west on North Green River Road, about 11 miles west of Gaffney, when he lost control of the vehicle, according to authorities.

He traveled off the right side of the road, crossed back over the road and then drove off the left side of the road, Fowler said. His vehicle traveled down a hill and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to become airborne. The car landed right side up and ejected McCulloh from the rear of the vehicle, according to the coroner.

He was not wearing a seat belt, according to Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident.

Troopers said McCulloh was traveling 65 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.

McCulloh's death marks the third trafficrelated fatality in Cherokee County this year.
