James L. Dawkins
James L. Dawkins, 46, of 93 McArthur St., passed away Friday, March 16, 2007, at 5:35 p.m. in Spartanburg R e g i o n a l Healthcare System.
A native of C h e r o k e e County, he was the son of James Edward Dawkins and Joyce Rainey Dawkins. he was
a member of Ebenezer
Baptist Church
and graduated in 1978 from Gaffney High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a disabled retired employee of Musgrove Mill.
Also surviving are two sons, Bradley L. Sarratt of Dameron, Md., and Kelvin Lamar Dawkins of Gaffney; a brother, Brien Dawkins of Gaffney; three sisters, Carla ReVonda Dawkins, Tammy Douglas and Josette Smith, all of Gaffney; two grandchildren; and his grandparents, Lillie Mae Dawkins of Gaffney and James Rainey of Baltimore, Md.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Freddy Davidson, Clarence Davis, Kirkland Smith, Dewayne Cooper, Sherman Davis and Dr. Eula Miller Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of the Class of 1978 of Gaffney High School, Sandra Smith, Brossie Shippy, Thaylia Phillips, Millie Shippy, Mary Digsby, Necy Shippy, Janet White, Essie Hopper, Eddie Hollis, Nathan E. Littlejohn, Michael Shippy, Corey Johnson, Jeff Studyvance, Tommy Shippy and Jeff Littlejohn.
The family is at the home of James and Joyce Rainey Dawkins, 119 Lincoln Drive.
