The county will have more than $1.1 million to spend this year to pave county and state roads.

Cherokee County Councilman Charles Mathis, who chairs the finance committee, said the C-fund appropriations were based on the amount of road miles in each council district.

C-funds are generated by the state gasoline tax.

All county council members received money for county road projects but only Bailey Humphries, Charles Mathis and James Batchler received funds for state projects because those funds are appropriated on a rotating basis among council members.

Of the state road project money, Mathis received the largest portion, nearly $84,000, while Humphries got $61,000 and Batchler received $57,500.

As for county road projects money, Mathis, who has the most amount of road miles in his district, received the largest appropriation of $161,792.

District 2 councilman Bailey Humphries had the next largest county project appropriation of $139,360.

Councilman James Batchler received $128,585 to pave roads in District 7, while councilman Hoke Parris got $101,738 for road improvements in his council district.

District 3 councilman Quay Little received $73,301 and District 4 councilman Tim Spencer got $32,853 for county projects.

District 1 Councilman Rufus Foster received $10,000 in road paving money for his county district.

County council approved a $150,000 Cfund appropriation for the City of Gaffney and a $35,000 appropriation for the Town of Blacksburg.

Council allocated another $100,000 in road improvement funds for economic development projects.
