Shooting suspect in custody
MANNING A second man wanted in connection with recent multiple shootings is now in custody.
Gaffney police arrested 20-yearold Joshua "Yankee" Manning of Gaffney on 4th Street Wednesday afternoon after receiving a tip regarding his location.
Police released a wanted poster Tuesday in hopes of locating Manning and Tyrus Demond Davidson, 19, of Gaffney, who was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his home at 408 W. Frederick St.
Manning and Davidson each are charged with two counts of assault with intent to kill. They both remain in the Cherokee County Detention Center in lieu of $25,000 bond on those charges.
They are accused of shooting at a Gaffney man while on the city's west side. According to warrants, one shooting happened at West Carlisle Street on March 14 and another shooting occurred March 16 at Broad and Robinson streets.
Detective Sgt. Ron Ramsey of the Gaffney Police Department said no one was injured but a car was struck by the gunfire.
Ramsey said more charges might be pending and added he plans to question the men regarding shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend as well as a recent police chase that ended with a gold-colored Lexus wrecked in Connecticut Village. The occupants of the vehicle were not located.
Manning was also served with a warrant for public disorderly conduct for an Oct. 2, 2006, incident in which he was allegedly shouting obscenities and threats toward a residence at Walnut and Beech streets. He also was served with three Family Court bench warrants.
Davidson was also charged with simple possession of marijuana. Police said Davidson had a gram of marijuana in a bedroom in the West Frederick Street home where he was arrested. Davidson said the marijuana belonged to him, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.
