Children's home auction raised more than $32,000

On behalf of the auction committee and Cherokee Children's Home, I want to thank you for the very generous donation to our auction.

The gift certificate (value $1,180.35) was a very popular item and was purchased by Kelly Galloway. We do not have all of the information yet, but we think we brought in more than $32,000. This is due to the wonderful support of friends like you.

I thought you might be interested to know that since opening in 1989, we have served as a safe haven to more than 1,450 children in need of our services. The children we serve are abused, abandoned and/or neglected and are in the care of the South Carolina Department of Social Services. While with us, children receive on-site counseling and participate in activities to build self-esteem.

Again, thank you for your very generous contribution and for all of the articles you ran in your newspaper concerning the auction.
