13-year-old arrested for breaking into school A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Blacksburg police after Blacksburg Middle School Principal Virgil Hampton discovered he had broken into the school, a report at the Blacksburg Police Department states. Blacksburg Officer Lt. Zeb Starnes and Hampton responded to the school at 101 London St., Blacksburg, at 12:55 p.m. Saturday after an alarm was activated, the report states. Hampton located the boy in a lower hallway holding a brown bag. The suspect went into a room and put the bag down, police said. The boy told police he was alone and had entered through a classroom window in the lower hallway, according to the report. Police found a small fixed-blade knife in his left front pocket when they searched him. He was transported to the police department and turned over to his parents. Trio wanted in N.C. arrested here Three out-of-state people were arrested at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office because they were wanted in Caldwell County, N.C. Joseph Anthony Bishop, 17, of Lenior, N.C., Michael James Soto, 29, of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Deborah Anderson Ervin, 43, of Granite Falls, N.C., were each served with fugitive from justice warrants. They were arrested at 2 p.m. Monday. Caldwell County authorities said they could not release details about why the trio is wanted in North Carolina until their warrants are served. Report says man very intoxicated A 42-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun while intoxicated during a domestic dispute. Deputy Jason Burgess has charged Bobby Dwayne Smith of 175 Silica Springs Road, Gaffney, with criminal domestic violence and shooting under the influence. Burgess said he responded to Smith's home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding shots fired, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states. Smith told the deputy he had been arguing with his wife. After speaking with the woman, the deputy placed Smith under arrest. Burgess said Smith was very intoxicated, the report states. BB gun used to shoot out windows Several area businesses sustained damage after someone shot out windows with a BB gun, according to reports at local police departments. Multiple windows on a bus belonging to Kid's Klubhouse, 1702 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, were shot out with a BB gun, according to one of the reports at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The damage was discovered Saturday. A window at Lisa's Hawg-NDawg, 2152 Beech St., Gaffney, was damaged when someone shot it with a BB gun Monday, another report states. The windows of three buses were shot while parked at Freightliner, 552 Hyatt St., Gaffney, a separate report at the sheriff's office states. Police were informed Wednesday. The windows at Terry White's State Farm Insurance Office, 209 E. Frederick St., Gaffney, were shot several times, shattering the glass, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states. The damage was noticed Monday. City police also responded Tuesday to Upstate Signs, 900 E. Frederick St., Gaffney, because someone shot out two windows with a BB gun, another report states. Alert officer makes arrest Officer Ronnie Anderson of the Gaffney Police Department was patrolling at 8:33 p.m. Saturday when he noticed a muzzle flash and heard a gunshot, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states. While investigating the source of the gunfire, he seized 3.4 grams of crack cocaine and a .44 caliber pistol. Anderson has charged Marquis Terrell Corry, 24, of 129 Ephron St., Gaffney, with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half mile of a park, and discharging a firearm within city limits. The officer found Corry and two other people walking in an alley near Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane and noticed a large bulge in Corry's right jacket pocket, the report states. Anderson asked the suspects for permission to search them, and all agreed. Police seized the gun from Corry's right jacket pocket and the drugs from a right pants pocket, according to the report.
