Retired from the textiles

Vivian Guthrie Turner, 93, of 1434 N. Limestone St., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Peachtree Centre.

A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Jack Guthrie and Daisy Northey Guthrie and widow of the late James Warren and also the late Ernest (Ted) Turner. Mrs. Turner was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Shirley Bright of Spartanburg and Judy McCraw of Gaffney; a stepson, Larry Turner of Charleston; a brother, Ralph Guthrie of Charleston; two sisters, Juanita Harris of Gaffney and Marie Ross of Blacksburg; two grandchildren, Denise Ericson of Ozark, Mo., and James Warren of Gaffney; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Jill Thomson and Patsy Huskey of Gaffney.

Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by a son, Charles Warren; a brother, Jack Guthrie Jr.; and two sisters, Mable Phillips and Othella Smalley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Peachtree Centre and the staff of Hospice Care of SC for their love and concern.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.in Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Revs. Rich Lancaster and Mike Proctor. The family will meet with friends at the graveside after the service.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
