Local drivers to compete at Lowe's
      Gaffney-area racers Chris Madden, Jeff Cooke and Mike Duvall will compete against the nation's best dirt late model drivers April 20-21 at the Circle K Colossal 100 at the The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Madden and Cook of Gaffney and Duvall of Cowpens added their names to the extensive entry list of more than 100 drivers from 22 states.

Wildcats outslug pair of opponents

      A strong outing by starting pitcher Dustin Byars. Another explosive offensive performance. Two straight dominating wins by the Blacksburg Wildcats this week. Byars tossed a one-hitter and the Wildcats banged out 15 hits to down region rival Carolina, 18-0 on Wednesday. The rout followed a 16-5 victory over Jonesville on Monday.

Nationally-ranked Patriots pound Limestone

      The Francis Marion Patriots showed Wednesday why they are nationally-ranked with an 11-1 win over visiting Limestone. The Saints' lone run came in the sixth inning when Phillip Soden doubled to score Daniel Lydon. The Patriots broke a scoreless tie with two runs each in the third and fourth innings.

Lady Saints, Mount Olive split doubleheader

      The Lady Saints were too much for Mount Olive in the first game of their doubleheader on Thursday. It was a different story in the nightcap. The Lady Saints won the opener, 8- 0, before Mount Olive got the win in game two, 8-0. The Lady Saints are 8-6 in the conference.
