Local student's return to class at Va. Tech was delayed by weather

The Cherokee County School District faces a projected budget deficit up to $6 million for the 2007- 2008 school year. A former Gaffney woman died in a single-vehicle accident at 2:30 a.m. Monday in Lancaster County, according to Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol. Salina Gayle Upchurch, 31, of Myrtle Beach, died at the scene of the accident on Highway 903, about 11 miles east of Lancaster. Upchurch was a Gaffney native. More...
