Shrine Bowl wannabes to face strength, speed tests
      South Carolina Shrine Bowl Head Coach Dave Farnham announced Monday the Sandlappers will employ a combine process which will measure and test height, weight, vertical jump, 40-yard dash, pro agility (20 Yard) shuttle, and bench press.

Gaffney primed for the playoffs
      The Lady Indians sure are playing like a playoff team. Julie Sarratt pitched seven scoreless innings and Courtney Campbell singled twice to lead Gaffney to a 3-0 win over visiting Broome in the regular-season finale on Monday. The Lady Indians begin district playoff action on Thursday at North Augusta. T.L. Hanna and York round out the district bracket.

Gaffney edges Mavs in playoff
      What home course advantage? The Gaffney High golf team overcame Mauldin and the unfamiliarity of playing at Holly Tree Country Club to down the host Mavericks in a sudden death playoff on Tuesday. The teams finished regulation tied at 154, but Gaffney made short work of Mauldin on the first playoff hole to capture the tri-match by two strokes.

Blacksburg ready for long postseason run
      Despite moving up to Class 2A this season, the good times keep rolling for the Blacksburg High School baseball team. The Wildcats, who will be making their fourth straight postseason appearance, open district playoff action Thursday at Abbeville. The game will begin at 6 p.m. Pelion and Batesburg-Leesville round out the four-team district playoff field.

      Gaffney's tight end Richard Good signed a letter of intent to play at Reedley Junior College in Fresno, Calif. on Monday. Good is joined at the signing by parents Carolyn and Richard Good, Gaffney High Principal Dr. Quincie Moore, Gaffney High football coach Phil Strickland and offensive line coach Charles Patterson.
