Miss Emery, Mr. Johnson wed March 24
MR. AND MRS. TRAVIS JOHNSON Blaire Emery and Travis Johnson, both of Mt. Pleasant, exchanged marriage vows on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Patriots Point Links in Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Brett Millican officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony.
The outdoor wedding took place in an area overlooking the Charleston Harbor. Simple lanterns hung from oak trees while pink and white rose petals formed an aisle to where the vows were spoken.
"Virtuosity," a string quartet from Charleston, rendered a selection of wedding music, including "Ave Maria," "Canon in D," "Trumpet Voluntary" and Vivaldi's "Spring." Brink Norton, brother-inlaw of the bride, sang "Bless the Broken Road."
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attired in a Xiomara Grossett couture gown of white silk taffeta. The dress featured a strapless sweetheart neckline, rouched bodice and bustled skirt that created an asymmetrical hemline. Her twotiered, raw-edged veil fell to shoulder length and she carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, cream calla lilies, white berries, ivory lisianthus, green cymbidium orchids and white hyacinth.
Julie Douglas of Easley, Brooke Norton of Alexander City, Ala., and Caitlin Kolodzy of Gaffney, sisters of the bride, were matrons of honor. Austyne Douglas, niece of the bride, of Easley served as junior bridesmaid.
The attendants wore sundresses of Dupioni silk designed by Watters and Watters. The midori green gowns were enhanced by necklaces and earrings made by the bride of pearls and ribbons. They carried arrangements of green hydrangea and pink and green parrot tulips adorned with loops of beargrass.
Brinkley Norton of Alexander City, Ala., niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore an original design by her mother, Brooke Norton. Her dress was fashioned after the bride's gown os silk taffeta and lace.
Case Johnson of Charleston, nephew of the groom, was the ring bearer.
Ted Johnson of Charlotte was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Mike Bobo of Athens, Ga.; Bryan Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; Brandon Tolbert of Atlanta; Trey Sipe, Travis Pearsall, Mark Quincy, Jeff Jordan, Lance Johnson, brother of the groom, all of Charlotte; Rusty Mansell of Rome, Ga.; Dax Langley of Athens, Ga.; David McCallum, Barry Speizman, Bill Abbey, all of Charleston; and Sean Tremblay of Long Island, N.Y.
Following the ceremony, a reception was also held at Patriots Point Links under a large tent with views of the Charleston Harbor.
Guests dined on local Charleston cuisine, including fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, ham and cheddar biscuits, beef and chicken with mini-potatoes and cakes.
A live band, "Threshold," of Fort Mill performed classic dance songs for the approximately 200 guests to enjoy.
