Woman says man gagged her with duct tape
A Gaffney man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman with a pair of scissors at 11 p.m. Saturday, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.
Deputy Sgt. Todd Parker has charged Miles Edward Goodwin, 27, of 321 Wilkie Road, Gaffney, with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Goodwin is accused of putting duct tape around the 27-year-old woman's neck and mouth while at Goodwin's home. The woman told police he cut the tape off before police arrived and threatened to stab her with the scissors, the report states.
Police said they seized a ripped shirt and duct tape which contained some hair as evidence.

and gun seized
Two people were arrested on drug charges after police executed a search warrant at their home.
Agent Christy Poole of the Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit has charged Thomas Wayne Lavender, 52, and Ernest Glenn Lavender Jr., 43, both of 814 Victory Trail Road, Gaffney, with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of diazepam (Valium), possession of alprazolam (Xanax), and possession of hydrocodone (Lortabs).
Narcotics agents seized less than a pound of marijuana, 18 pills, $678 in cash and a pistol from the home, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

with forgery
A Gaffney woman has been arrested after she allegedly cashed a forged check June 16, 2006, at Corner Stop No. 2, 717 Providence Road, Gaffney, a warrant at the Gaffney Police Department states.
April Nicole Rhinehart, 25, of 307 Marion Ave., has been charged with forgery.
The check was written payable to Joy N. Spencer and was drawn on the Wachovia Bank account of Personnel Management.
The warrant was signed Feb. 16 and served Thursday.

after struggle
Police struggled to place a 33-year-old man under arrest after he sped away from narcotics agent Christy Poole during a traffic stop, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.
Poole has charged Charles Rayford Sellars of 118 Tansi Trail, Gaffney, with 3rd or subsequent offense driving under suspension, failure to stop for a blue light and resisting arrest.
Poole attempted to stop a blue Chevy Impala on Pacolet Highway (Hwy. 150 South) at 4:48 p.m. Thursday, but the driver sped up and began passing other cars. When he was apprehended at Old Race Track Road and Leadmine Road, he refused to comply and tried to keep officers from handcuffing him, the report states.

A Spartanburg man faces charges after police stopped him in a stolen red 1999 Chevy Blazer, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.
Philbert Ray Emory, 48, is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, malicious damage to property, driving under suspension, driving under the influence and open container violation.
Someone called police after a red Chevy Blazer damaged the lawn in front of U.S. Corrugated Inc. at 139 Price Farm Road at 5:40 a.m. Friday, the report states. A deputy passed a vehicle matching that description near the business and made a traffic stop, discovering the vehicle was stolen.
Pizzas being stolen
from drivers
Several pizzas were stolen from a Dominos driver at 11:15 p.m. Monday, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.
The woman told police she was trying to deliver to a residence at Kraft Street and Cozy Lane, Gaffney, when three white males grabbed the pizzas and ran, the report states. The suspects are described as being 16 or 17 years old.
The delivery person told police there have been many similar thefts in that area of town.
