It's been a busy week for narcotics agents

Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit agents said they seized approximately 30 marijuana plants from a Union Highway home Sunday morning.

Agent Jerry Smith has charged Wayne Everett Reynolds, 42, of 2427 Union Highway, Lot 19, Gaffney, with manufacturing marijuana.

Agents said they went to the home at 10:51 a.m. Sunday after receiving complaints about illegal narcotics in the home. They found marijuana plants growing in a bedroom closet and on a window sill as well as marijuana pipes and rolling papers, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.

According to police, Reynolds admitted the marijuana plants belonged to him.

Local police have also arrested seven people and seized crack cocaine, marijuana, and pills in separate incidents.

Gaffney officers were called to Room 546 of the Red Roof Inn, 132 New Painter Drive, Gaffney, at 9 p.m. Monday in response to a call regarding a drunk and disorderly customer, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states. Police said they found sugar and cereal thrown on the floor and crushed into the carpet in front of the room.

Once officers entered the motel room, they smelled marijuana smoke and arrested Joshua Bradley Burns, 22, of Denton, N.C. With the help of the city's drug-sniffing dog, police found a bag with a glass pipe and other drug paraphernalia and two bags of marijuana, amounting to approximately nine grams, according to the report. Police also found a cigarette pack with partially smoked marijuana cigarettes and a bag containing eight Clonazepam (Klonopin) pills and two Hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen (Vicodin) pills.

Burns is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, malicious injury to property and disorderly conduct.

Narcotics agents said Jimmy Derrel Austin, 22, of 414 Suez St., Gaffney, tried to flush a plastic bag containing approximately 26 grams of marijuana in the toilet when police arrived to serve a search warrant at Room 245 of the Homestead Lodge,136 Peachoid Road, Gaffney. Agents retrieved the drugs and also seized $300 in cash during the 1 a.m. incident Sunday, according to a separate report at the sheriff's office.

Smith has charged Austin with 2nd-offense simple possession of marijuana.

A traffic stop led to the arrest of Latwan Marquis Toms, 25, of 311 Sycamore St., Gaffney, who is charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Sheriff's deputies seized approximately 2.6 grams of crack cocaine from Toms following the stop at 9:48 p.m. Friday at Bridges Road and Rock Springs Road in Blacksburg, another report at the sheriff's office states.

Narcotics agents served a search warrant at the home of Damarkis Ray Brannon, 27, of 118A Kraft St., Gaffney, at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, another report at the sheriff's office states. Police found nine pills and less than an ounce each of crack cocaine and marijuana.

Agent Christy Poole has charged Brannon with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half mile of a school and possession of marijuana.

A second person, James Leon Steen, 36, of 204 Oak St., Gaffney, has also been charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of a controlled substance.

In a separate incident, agent Tim Hill has charged Ronnie Shannon Bonner, 31, of 120 Springwood Drive, and Wendy Lynn Miller, 25, of 166 E. Oneal St., both of Gaffney, with possession with intent to distribute alprazolam (Xanax) and possession of Lortab.

Agents seized 12 pills during a traffic stop at 2 p.m. Thursday at E. Frederick and Beech streets in Gaffney.
