MURRELLS INLET - Jerene Scruggs Hucks, 85, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Myrtle Beach.

Born in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mamie Scruggs. Mrs. Hucks was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husbands, R.V. Hucks in 1986 and James Ruebush Ruppe in 1962; a half-brother, Kirk Scruggs; a half-sister, Lilly Pennington; and a son-in-law, J.B. Michael.

Surviving are daughters, Jennie Richardson and her husband, William, Joan Tomczuk and her husband, Kenneth, all of Myrtle Beach, and Rebecca Michael of Pawleys Island; a son, Jack Ruppe and his wife, Gail, of Kent Island, Md.; a sister, Julia Godfrey of Chesnee; brothers, A.D. Scruggs of Gaffney and Shealy Scruggs of Charlotte; grandchildren, Michael Richardson, David Ruppe, Julia Richardson, Diana Ruppe, Jennifer Tomczuk, Timothy Ruppe, Ryan Michael and Madilyn Michael; and two greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet.
