Three Gaffney track stars go for gold

      Region discus champion Tiffany Posey will go for the gold this evening when she competes in the state meet at Spring Valley High School. Posey is one of three Gaffney track team members who advanced to the state championship by finishing in the top eight at last weekend's state qualifier. Ninth graders Kennard Lipscomb and Joe Craig will represent the boys track team in Saturday's races.

      Gaffney High hosts sports combine About 500 athletes are expected to participate June 2 in the Cherokee County Sports Combine at W.K. Brumbach Stadium. The sports combine schedule is 9- 11 a.m. (ages 7-12) and 1-3 p.m. (ages 13-18.) Pre-registration is $15 until May 18. On-site registration is $20. A portion of the proceeds will go towards charity.

Committee okays new 3-point line
