Local volleyball star helps Club South win championship

Gaffney High volleyball player Lana Ward (3) was a member of this year's 16 and under Club South (Morgan). The team was the Silver Division Champs in the Palmetto Region. Gaffney High volleyball player Lana Ward recently helped Club South become the USAV Silver Division Champs 16 and under in the Palmetto Region.

Ward, a defensive specialist, plays for the 16 under ClubSouth (Morgan) coached by Morgan Bucciferro. Her teammates include middle blocker Arden Anderson (Thomas Jefferson Charter School in N.C.), outside hitter Julie Jackson and setter Kelsey Davis (Southside Christian), outside hitter Courtney Linnrud (Boiling Springs), libero Taylor Knight, setter Madeleine Pressley and Meredith Richardson, all of Spartanburg High.

This year's 16 and under Clubsouth (Morgan) regional volleyball team finished the 2007 season with the following wins in the Palmetto Region:

They won the Club South Seeding and Potential Sports Club tournaments. Other tournament finishes included Carpe Diem Club (second place), Club South Regional Championship (second place), and Southern Classic (second place).
