A whole lot of good people help make the festival a success Dear Editor: The Blacksburg Business Association, Inc. sponsored the 2nd Annual Iron City Festival on April 20 and 21. The family-oriented event attracted many people into Blacksburg for the street dance, crafts, food, Atlantic Coast S Gaugers train exhibit, kids parade & rides, health fair, live entertainment, magic show with Channel 7's Jack Roper, car show, chili and cake contest. The festival would not have been possible without the financial help of our sponsors.. We offer our sincere THANK YOU to Upstate Carolina Medical Center, the Town of Blacksburg, Duke Energy, First Piedmont Federal Savings & Loan, American Community Bank, Blue Lagoon Pools, Tessner's Garage, Al's Auto Shop, CWS Insurance, Jackson-Hewitt Tax Service, McDonald's of Blacksburg, Nestle Frozen Food Company, Wendell Fabrics, Select Health of SC and Hammond Hunt. We would also like to thank Dr. Barrett, Dr. Wellmon, Dr. Blaakman, Dr. Cutchins, the American Red Cross, Ehlich Chiropractic, Upstate Carolina Medical Center, and the SC Highway Patrol for participating in the health fair. Volunteers and business association members gave many hours of their time to plan and work the festival and we really appreciate your dedication in helping to make the festival a success. Part of the profits, if any, from the festival will be used toward a scholarship for a local Blacksburg High School senior.
