Relay for Life
'Bank Day' is Thursday
      <!-- Page Number: 2--> In preparation of this weekend's Relay For Life, organizers are holding "Bank Day" on Thursday at the Palmetto Bank on South Limestone Street in Gaffney. Anyone who has raised money for the Relay is encouraged to turn those donations in between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

City considers tax hike
      <!-- Page Number: 3--> City property owners may see a 4-mill tax increase this year. The proposed tax hike would mean an annual property tax increase of $16 on a home valued at $100,000, Gaffney City Administrator James Taylor told Gaffney City Council during a budget workshop Monday.

Gaffney police to sponsor blood drive
      <!-- Page Number: 3--> As part of National Police Week (May 13- 19), the Gaffney Police Department will sponsor a blood drive Wednesday, May 16, to help meet a critical shortage at the Piedmont Blood Center. All blood collected during the drive will remain in Cherokee County. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be located in front of Gaffney City Hall, 201 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, from 8 a.m.

Truck driver stabbed in neck
      <!-- Page Number: 5--> A truck driver from Georgia was stabbed after being robbed at 4:45 a.m. today, said Chief Deputy Joel Hill of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. The man was flown by Regional One to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after suffering a 4-inch stab wound to the neck. Hill would not release the man's identity until his family had been contacted.
