Joyce Jackson Bohler

Devoted wife and mother

EVANS, Ga. - Joyce Jackson Bohler, 69, entered into rest on Monday, May 7, 2007 at Heartland Hospice, following a courageous 16- year battle, with Multiple Sclerosis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Platt's Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bohler was a devoted mother to all. Born in Blacksburg, she was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill. She was a medical secretary at the Medical College of Georgia and later a secretary for the Corps of Engineers. She and her husband of 50 years, Luther M. Bohler, were married at Warren Baptist Church, where she taught the two-year-old Sunday School class for many years. She was presently a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta.

Mrs. Bohler was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Rogers Jackson and Alma Lois Wilson Jackson.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Peter Gentry Bohler and Mary Beth Bohler, and daughter and son-in-law, Natasha Bohler-Butts and William R. Butts, all of Evans; a brother and sisterin law, Steve and Peggy Jackson of Shelby, N.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Roger Huskey of Lake Wylie, S.C.; grandchildren, Seth Carson Bohler, Kristin Leigh Butts, Heather Elizabeth Butts, all of Evans, and another grandchild on the way. She was Mama Joyce to Cameron Kerzic, Helen Claire Stallworth and Lucy Carolyn Stallworth, all of Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Rudy Bohler, Bob Bohler, Rob Bohler, Dr. Nicky Shuman, Dr. Clay Stallworth and Mike Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Huffman, Harold Futch, Charlie Lovett, Richard Goley, Pete Reynolds and Theodore Webb.

The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Platt's Funeral Home, Belair Road.

Flowers will be accepted, however, for those desiring the family suggests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1117 Perimeter Center West, Suite E-101, Atlanta, Ga. 30338.
