Retired from textile industry

James Marcus Rollins, 78, of 229 Bonner Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Rutherford County, N.C., he was the widower of June Carol Godfrey Rollins and son of the late James Wade Rollins and Etheryn Hammett Rollins. He was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Rick Rollins and wife, Vanessa, and Jerry Rollins, all of Gaffney; a daughter, Carol Ruppe and husband, Eric, of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Heath Rollins, Justin Rollins, Brian Philbeck, Kevin Ruppe, Crystal Franklin, Jimmy Wood and Robin Edmonds; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Rollins was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Wood, and a brother, Max Rollins.

Services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mike Frazier. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Heath Rollins, Justin Rollins, David Rollins, Kevin Ruppe, Brian Philbeck and Jimmy Wood.

Honorary pallbearer will be Charles McCraw.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Creek Baptist Church (Building Fund), 502 Buck Shoals Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

The family will be at the home of Rick and Vanessa Rollins, 179 Lois Drive, Gaffney.
