STAFF REPORTS

Limestone College's athletic program had its highest finish ever in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference's Joby Hawn Cup standings this year.

Limestone finished second to Anderson College. Last year's winner, Pfeiffer, was third.

Hawn Cup points are awarded in each sport based on the order of finish, with bonus points for the tournament champion and runner-up.

The Saints enjoyed banner years in a number of sports this year.

The Limestone volleyball team was named the conference regular season co-champion and finished second in the conference tournament.

The men's soccer team won the conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.

The Limestone men's basketball team posted its first 20-win season since joining the conference and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals.

The school's men's and women's lacrosse teams captured the conference regular-season titles, with the men also winning the conference tournament.

Anderson won the cup this season by claiming regular-season championships in men's tennis and tournament championships in women's cross country, men's cross country and men's tennis.

Queens finished fourth, with Belmont Abbey fifth and Mount Olive sixth in the cup standings. Barton, Coker, St. Andrews, Lees- McRae and Erskine rounded out the order of finish.

The Hawn Cup is awarded each year in honor of former commissioner H.C. 'Joby' Hawn for his many years of service to the former Carolinas Conference.
