Meetings

Blacksburg VFW Post 4941 and its Ladies Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting June 26 at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Fund raisers

Draytonville, McKowns Mountain, Wilkinsville Volunteer Fire Department will have a barbecue and hash sale on Saturday, June 30, from 7 a.m. until. The food will be sold at the DMW fire station and at Auto Stop 105. Phone orders are welcome by calling 489-2194.

Church news

Bible-based recovery meetings are held Fridays at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle on Fourth Street. The 12-step program is based on biblical principles. Everyone welcome. For more information or a ride call 489-0366.

Holiday closings

Iron City Ministries will be closed Friday, June 29, through July 8 for vacation and the holiday. The center will reopen on Monday, July 9.

The Cherokee County Solid Waste Collection, Recycling and Landfill departments will be closed Wednesday, July 4. Wednesday's routes will be picked up on Wednesday, July 11. Extra containers may be used for overflow.

Support groups

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.
