Wilkins gets 2007 CSWCD scholarship

Wilkins Wilkins The Commissioners of the Cherokee Soil and Water Conservation District have announced that Jamison Brett Wilkins is recipient of the 2007 Conservation District Scholarship.

Wilkins graduated from Gafffney High School in June with a GPA of 3.574. He has been involved in a number of school activities, including the Beta Club, Spanish Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a member of the Teenage Republican Club and has played JV and Varsity baseball.

Wilkins' awards and achievements include being named to the National Honor Roll, 2006 USC Upstate College Scholar, All A Honor Roll at Gaffney High School, Perfect Attendance, and winner of the Cherokee Soil and Water Conservation District Essay Contest. He is involved in many community and volunteer organizations including Meals on Wheels, Adopt-A-Highway, Muscular Dystrophy fundraiser, coaching Little League Baseball, and working with the Historical Committee and Vacation Bible School at Goucher Baptist Church. He has done all these things while holding down several parttime jobs and summer jobs.

Wilkins will enter Clemson University this fall and plans to pursue a degree in forest resource management.

The Conservation District awards scholarships annually to deserving high school seniors planning to major in the natural resources or a related field.
