Indians show stuff at camp Gaffney basketball coach Mark Huff liked what he saw from his team at the Lander University team camp. The three Gaffney teams compiled a 21-3 overall record. Gaffney No. 1 and Gaffney No. 2, which were made up of returning varsity and junior varsity players, finished with a combined record of 14-3. The Gaffney team, comprised of rising sophomores, finished with a perfect 7-0 mark. "I'm pleasantly surprised," Huff said. "I thought we played hard. There were several coaches who came up and complimented us on how hard we play. It was a good overall camp experience." Huff said the teams are still adjusting to a new offense, which features more passing and cutting. The Indians made the change because of a lack of size on the inside. Huff also was impressed with his team's ability to rebound despite its lack of size. "We are going to be short but I thought we did a pretty good job on the boards." The Indians were able to pressure teams defensively, according to Huff. Huff declined to praise any individual players. "Everybody played well," he said. The Indians will return to the court this week for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp at Limestone College. The three-day camp will begin on Thursday. |
