Post 109 hosts Hillcrest today at 7 p.m. Maybe Post 109 won't miss ace Justin Sarratt so much after all.

Jordan Propst turned in another solid performance, striking out five and allowing just eight hits as visiting Post 109 beat Hillcrest, 13-3, on Saturday for its third straight win.

Propst allowed just one earned run in a game shortened to just seven innings because of the 10- run rule.

"Jordan is a leader," Post 109 manager Jeff Osment said. "He's been a team player for three years and he knows that task that's upon him and he's willing to take up the challenge."

So have the Post 109 batters, who pounded out 18 hits. Trevin Taber and Michael Hughey swung the hottest bats. Taber was 3 for 5 with six RBIs, including a grand slam in Post 109's seven-run fifth inning.

Hughey was 4 for 5 with a double and two RBIs.

Jake Watson had three hits, while Justin Phillips and McCrae Norton each had two. Bobby Jackson, Ricky Brannon, Bubba Wright and Bryan Parsons all hit safely for Post 109, which scored two runs in the third and fourth innings before its big fifth inning.

Post 109 added two runs in the seventh to complete its scoring.

Gaffney's bats were also hot in an 11-3 win over Union on Friday. Taber had three hits, including a double and four RBIs.

Wright had two hits and three RBIs while Dylan Jolley, Phillips and Brannon all had a RBI for Post 109.

Gaffney jumped on top with three runs in the first and added three more runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Watson allowed just six hits and three runs to pick up the win. He also struck out five in a complete game performance.

"I said all along that we had so many young players that we would be playing better at the end of the season than at the beginning" Osment said. "The players are starting to understand they need to focus before the game starts to play well during the game."

Gaffney (8-5) hosts Hillcrest today at 7 p.m. at Commissioners Field.
