George Ruppe

Retired from Oxford

George C. Ruppe, 78, of 802 8th St., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Shirley E. Martin Ruppe and son of the late Rev. Hustler Hoyle Ruppe and Margaret Ophelia Martin Ruppe. Mr. Ruppe was retired from Oxford, was an avid golfer and a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, G. Alan Ruppe and wife, Renae, of Orem, Utah, and Brian L. Ruppe of Gaffney; six sisters, Juanita Holder of Mooresboro, N.C., Elaine Atkinson, Mikkie Reynolds and husband, A.F., Iris Jackson and husband, Gene, Dot Whisenant and husband, Phillip, and Elizabeth Bridges and husband, Franklin, all of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Jessica Elaine Ruppe Spears and husband, Andrew, Jeremy Alan Ruppe and Deanna Lynette Ruppe.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ruppe was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Ruppe and Solon Ruppe, and a sister, Eloise Humphries.

Services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mike Frazier, Mr. G. Alan Ruppe and Elder Floyd Martin. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Blakely Funeral Home.
