County council approves plan to hire assistant administrator

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

Cherokee County might soon have a new assistant county administrator.

Council on Monday approved the qualifications for the position and instructed interim administrator Ben Clary to begin advertising for applicants.

It's been nearly 20 years since the county had an assistant administrator.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in business, public administration or a related field.

The county also wants applicants with five years of governmental experience.

Finance Committee Chairman Charles Mathis said the county will discuss salary when a finalist for the job is selected.
