A pair of Gaffney High basketball teams finished with a combined mark of 7-8 at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes team camp last week. Gaffney boys basketball coach Mark Huff gave his players mixed grades for their performance at last weekend's Fellowship of Christian Athletes Team Camp.

"Some games we didn't do a good job on the boards and some games we did," Huff said. "It's something that we really need to work on."

Gaffney split its squad into two teams for the camp. Team I finished with a 4-3 record, while Team II posted a 3-5 mark.

On Saturday, Team II split its games, losing to Byrnes and beating Etowah. Team 1 topped Woodmont by 11 points.

Team I had its troubles on Friday, losing to Travelers Rest, Frederick Douglas High of Georgia and Etowah. Team I beat Lancaster for its lone win.

Team II had more success, beating Airport and Woodmont and losing to Greer in a high-scoring game and to Travelers Rest by four points.

Despite the teams' less-than-stellar winloss records, Huff said the camp was a success.

"It was a good experience for us," he said. "Everybody got to play a lot. We answered some questions about positions and we looked for some depth at spots."

"I had a coach tell me that once our players are on one team, we're going to be pretty good," Huff added.

The Indians will take a break for the July 4th holiday before returning to the court for the Byrnes Shootout on Monday.
