Dear Readers:

Mary Carpenter here with Saving Gaffney Pets Rescue. We have had a lot going on lately and things have been happening. We have sent 60 dogs to New York in the past month that would have otherwise been euthanized. I have received some wonderful e-mails from the people up north who have adopted our babies and they are very happy with our Southern dogs. Some of the success stories have been real tear-jerkers for sure, but happy tears.

I have received some donations from you readers and for that I want to thank you. I have every intention of sitting down in my spare time and handwriting a personal note to all who have donated to my cause but with my work schedule and rescue, I have yet to find the time. Please know that your donations are very much appreciated and without you I could not have saved these babies. You saved these babies, not me, and believe me, I really, really appreciate it and please accept my heartfelt thanks.

I would like to note that as of late it has come to my attention that there are still people in Gaffney who do not know that we have an animal shelter. There are so many dogs and cats that come into our shelter that appear to have belonged to someone because they are so well-caredfor and so healthy, but no one ever claims them. It is a shame to know that someone's beloved pet was euthanized unnecessarily.

Our shelter is located at 300 Yale St., Gaffney, SC, and the phone number is (864) 487-8529. If you are missing a pet, please check with or call the animal shelter. These animals are only held five days before they are euthanized unless I can find a rescue to take them in.
