Tom Crabtree at library Thursday to read Dr. Seuss
Program will be from 12:15-1 p.m. with free lunch provided
      Channel 7/WSPA-TV news anchor Tom Crabtree will be at the Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney on Thursday, Aug. 2, for a lunch-time reading from 12:15-1 p.m. of Dr. Seuss stories. Kenny Covington and Susan Sarratt, cosponsors of the event, encourage children and adults alike who have a yen for anything Seussical to attend.

High number of West Nile cases worry health officials, but it's too early to call the season

      ATLANTA - The nation is on pace to have its worst West Nile virus season in years, federal health officials said last week. So far this year, there have been nearly four times as many cases reported as there were at the same time last year.

      Hunter Grayson Aiken Kayce and Jay Aiken of Taylors announce the birth of their son, Hunter Grayson Aiken, on June 27, 2007, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center weighing 6 lbs. 9 ozs. Maternal grandparents are Roger McAbee of Gaffney and the late Sherry McAbee. Paternal grandparents are Sam and Terri Aiken of Greenville.

Kellys married 40 years
      James Henry and Novella Thompson Kelly of Gaffney celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 2, 2007. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly were married in Blacksburg in 1967. Their children are Minister Donnie and Talisa Allen of Gaffney, Cynthia Kelly of Charlotte and Jamie Kelly of Gaffney. They have three grandchildren, Kellie, Laila and Donovan.
