Ruby Atkins

Ruby Estelle Bingham Atkins, 81, of 341 Frye Road, Gaffney, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at her home.

Born in Hayesville, N.C., she was the wife of Hollis Samuel Atkins and daughter of the late Ellix Bingham and the late Lexie Watkins Bingham. She was a member of Tabernacle of Love Church.

Also surviving are four sons Tom Anderson of Fly Branch, Ga., Bill Anderson of Oakwood, Ga., Deno Anderson of Tampa, Fla., and Lake Anderson of Black Mountain, N.C.; seven daughters, Bernice Ramsey, Dianne Clue, both of Oakwood, Ga., Debbie Bernette of Longer, Ga., Janice Clarke, Trish Teans, both of Fly Branch, Ga., Mary Clarke of Athens, Ga., and Liz Phillips of Gaffney; a brother Paul Watkins of Hayesville, N.C.; a sister, Esta Atkins of Chesnee; 16 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by a brother, John Meadows, and three sisters, Ruth Murphy, Ollie Blanton and Anna Mae Teans.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle of Love Church, conducted by the Revs. Michael Price and Harold Dean Painter. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 Monday and Tuesday evenings at Gordon Mortuary.
