Sarah Strain
Retired from Hamrick Mills
Sarah Carolyn Hodge Strain, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at Peachtree Centre.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Charles (Sammy) Strain and daughter of the late Charles Columbus Hodge and Ora Dean Delahay Hodge. She was retired from Hamrick Mills and was a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Jack K. Hodge and wife, Martha, of Gaffney; two sisters in-law, Catherine Pettit of Gaffney and Sarah Wilkins Strain of Shelby, N.C.; three nephews, Chuck Lowry and wife, Jan, of Gaffney, Craig Lowry and wife, Carol, of Moore and Ken Lowry and wife, Pam, of Greensboro, N.C.; three nieces, Carol Hodge Hamrick of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Angela Hodge of Gaffney and Sarah Hodge Franks and husband, David, of Gaffney; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Strain was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Hodge Lowry.
Graveside services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Ron Jackson. The family met with friends at the graveside after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Gaffney Baptist Church, 2308 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
