Retired from textile industry

BLACKSBURG - Jack Turner, 82, of 202 Roark Road, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

Born in Cocke County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Levi Turner and Delsie Turner. He was a member of First Baptist Church of

Grover and was

retired from the textile

industry. Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Alfred Dukes.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Pauline Peterson Turner of Blacksburg; a daughter, Shelby Jean Turner Richardson and husband, Jimmy, of Gaffney; and a sister, Pauline Dukes of Dandridge, Tenn.

Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Revs. John Barnhardt and David Saldo. Visitation was held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home prior to the service. Interment was in Grover Cemetery in Grover.
