Madeline Reed
Retired LPN
Madeline Beatrice Wheat Reed, 88, of Peachtree Center, formerly of Town and Country Apartments, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Peachtree Centre.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Grady (Smokey) Reed and daughter of the late Hiram D. Wheat and Edith Rice Wheat. She was a retired LPN from Cherokee Memorial Hospital and was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by a son, Charles Wheat of Bennettsville; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Wheat of Blacksburg; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudia B. Wheat Mayfield.
A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by Mr. Ashby Blakely. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peachtree Centre, 1434 Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
Family members will be at their respective homes.
