Ruth Giles
Retired from textile industry
Ruth Lee Fowler Giles, 88, of 135 Maggie Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Earl Hampton Giles and daughter of the late Hubert Fowler and Mary Frances Scruggs Fowler. She was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Jerry E. Giles and wife, Phyllis, of Anderson; a daughter, Peggy Giles Woods and husband, Jerry Lee, of Gaffney; a sister, Lillian Crawford of Gaffney; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Giles was preceded in death by a son, Larry Steve Giles; three daughters, Frances Ray, Shirley Jones and Helen Splawn; and two grandchildren, Chuckie Woods and Chiqita Splawn.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Pleasant officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
