Adopt-A-Cop program returns with similar goal

Every year, The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office purchases protective vests, also know as a bullet proof vest, for Deputy Sheriffs.

The program, known as "Adopt-A-Cop" allows citizens, business, and civic organizations to adopt a cop and help provide a protective vest.

Ballistic vests cost approximately $600.00 each, and must be replaced every five years.

The sponsorship cost is $300.00, and the person(s) or group sponsoring the officer will have his or her picture presenting the officer with their vest printed in local newspapers.

Persons or groups interested in adopting a cop and providing him with a protective vest, which may ultimately save his life, can contact Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Wes Foster at 489-4722, ext. 112.
