One Leg Up jazz ensemble will be at library Sept. 26

One Leg Up will present a Music Sandwiched-In concert Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 12:15-1 p.m. at the Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney. A free lunch will be provided by The Friends of the Library.

The group hails from Asheville, N.C., and performs a mixture of of gypsy jazz, Latin, swing, modern jazz, and original compositions. Performing together since 2003, One Leg Up became the house band at Cafe soleli in Asheville. During their 18-month engagement there, they gathered an enthusiastic fan base of music lovers, dancers and fellow musicians, and developed their tight, rhythmic acoustic style of jazz.

Kenny Covington, director of adult programming and public relations at the library, urges the public to come out and support the concert series this fall and winter. "It promises to be an excellent year," he said.
