Special events

Meals on Wheels will have a volunteer appreciation dinner for all Cherokee County Meals on Wheels volunteers and spouses on Monday, Oct. 1, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church Family Life Center. The event will have a country-western theme and entertainment will be provided by the Iron City Band with a special appearance by Country Music Superstar. Make reservations to Terry or Roz, 487-2730, no later than today, Sept. 24.

The Civilian Conservation Corp will have its 74th reunion on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Kings Mountain National Military Park. For more information call Carol, 704-867-2561 or 704- 678-6416.

Meetings

Blacksburg VFW Post 4941 and its Ladies Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All post and auxiliary members are urged to attend.

Special events

The Mike Bullman Band will be at VFW Post 3447 on Saturday, Sept. 29. Tickets are on sale for $50 each. This includes a steak supper, drinks and dance. Post 3447 and the ladies and men's auxiliaries are sponsoring the event. The public is invited to attend. Dinner will be served from 5-8 p.m. with the band starting at 8. Only 200 tickets will be sold. For tickets or more information, call 489- 7345.

Reunions

The Gettys reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. at Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church, 1658 Duncan's Creek Road in Rutherford County. Bring a covered dish for lunch. All descendant of Samuel and William Gettys are encouraged to attend. The history book of Samuel and William Gettys will be available for purchase. Updates for the past year will be given to those who have purchased books. If you have additions, corrections or deaths to report for this year's update, send them to Mary Louise Woodruff, P.O. The Keller family reunion will the held Sunday, Oct. 7, at noon at Macedonia Baptist Church. All descendants of Elbert and Essie Keller are urged to attend and bring a well-filled basket.
