Full day of festivities and events highlight homecoming at GHS
Homecoming is a time-honored tradition for returning alumni at Gaffney High School. Year after year, homecoming events reflect the memories of the good old days of Gaffney High School. A full day of celebration and activities has been planned for Friday, Oct. 12.
Members of the 2007 Homecoming Court at Gaffney High School are (l-r) Felixicity Figueroa, Keely Coyle, Kristen Bratton, Ke'Andrea Stevenson and Kayla Gallman. A morning reception and registration for returning alumni will be held at 8:45 in the cafeteria, sponsored by the GHS Senate.
Copies of the Indian Post, featuring articles and photos of honored classes, will be distributed during the reception.
At 10 a.m., a homecoming assembly will honor alumni from the classes of 1937,1947, 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997 and the 25th-year reunion of the Class of 1982. Alumni of those years from Granard High School will also be welcomed.
Skits, dancing and singing with music selected from the actual year of graduation will feature student and faculty entertainers. In addition, the members of the Homecoming Court, the players and sponsors will be presented during the assembly. The assembly prayer will be given by Brandon McCluney, student body president.
Following the assembly program, alumni will be invited to join the student body at lunch in the cafeteria. At 3 p.m., a pep rally will begin the in the school gymnasium, featuring the Gaffney High School Band of Gold and varsity cheerleaders.
At 7:30 p.m., the homecoming game between the Gaffney Indians and Hillcrest High School will get underway at W.K. Brumbach Stadium. The highlight of the halftime ceremonies will be the crowning of the homecoming queen who will be selected by the 2007 senior class.
Faculty chairpersons of the homecoming events are Betsy Jolliff and Jeff Kuntz. They invite all alumni and guests to join the student body in celebrating the continued pride and tradition of Gaffney High School. For more information, call 902-3600.
