WHAT'S UP Classes The Cherokee County American Red Cross will offer the followinghealth and safety classes: Oct. 8-9, 6-10 p.m., CPR and First Aid, price varies; Oct. 18, 6-8 p.m., bloodborne pathogens, $10 fee; Oct. 20, 9 a.m-.3 p.m. babysitter's training, $40 fee includes babysitter first aid kit. There are scholarship funds available. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Classes are filled on a pre-paid basis. To register, call 864-489-6066. Church news St. John's United Methodist Church in Blacksburg will have a big churchwide yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, Oct, 13, beginning at 7 a.m. A hot dog lunch will be served while you shop until 2 p.m. St. John's United Methodist is located at 105 S. Rutherford St. (next to the Blacksburg library). Auditions The Spartanburg Youth Theatre will hold auditions for its second production of the season, The Velveteen Rabbit, on Monday, Oct. 15, and Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 6-8 p.m. Students from the 6th grade through 12th grade are eligible to try out and must be signed in by 6:30 in order to read.
