The American Red Cross is organizing teams of volunteers willing to be trained to be disaster assistance team members.

DAT members respond to the scene of a disaster, most often a house fire, and offer Red Cross disaster recovery assistance to victims.

The all-day training will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the conference room at Brookview Healthcare Center, 510 Thompson St.

The two-night training will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 6-10 p.m. at the Cherokee County Red Cross building, 405 N. Logan St. Attendance both nights is required.

The training is free.

Interested persons should complete a DAT application prior to class registration. To register, call (864) 489-6066 or go by the American Red Cross office during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am. - 4 p.m.
