City taxes are due by Nov. 1

The clock is ticking on City of Gaffney property owners to pay their tax bills.

City officials mailed more than 6,000 tax notices to owners of real and personal property on Sept. 28.

A 5 percent penalty is added to the bill of those property owners who fail to pay their taxes by Nov. 1. That penalty rises to 10 percent Dec. 1 and to 15 percent Jan. 1. A $5 fee is also included on Jan. 1. That fee increases to $20 after May 1.

The city now accepts Visa and MasterCard as payment methods.
